Our Story

We are the Bergmanis family. For five generations, we have been caring for our farm Upmaļi.

Upmaļi covers 87 hectares of protected natural landscapes of European significance — species-rich meadows, bird habitats, forests, fields, and gardens. The estate has been in the ownership of the Bergmanis family for more than 100 years. It was acquired at the end of the 19th century, restored after the First World War, and developed into a model agricultural holding. During the Soviet occupation, the property was lost and later returned to the family in 1989.

At that time, Dainis and Māra Bergmanis began rebuilding the family farm. Their three children — still very young then — Zane, Uldis, and Uģis also helped in every way they could.

Since 1991, Upmaļi has been certified first as a biodynamic and later as an organic farm, while also operating as an environmental and health-oriented holding. Over the years, we have collaborated with Demeter-Bund Germany, the Grüne Liga, environmental clubs, and other ecological organizations.

On the farm, we cultivate various medicinal plants, produce herbal teas and tinctures, and organize educational seminars. We have received Latvia’s highest national agricultural awards on multiple occasions.

Today, this path continues. Māra and Zane develop the formulations for the “AnnA Bergmans” brand, while the production of our products remains a shared effort of the entire family.
